How Search Engine Optimization Puts Your Business on the Map

Did you know you can optimize your search engine optimization through blogs and videos? Wait…what’s search engine optimization (SEO) again?

It’s basically a fancy way to say how you get people to search for your articles and blogs.

This is a really cool thing, because if you’re a local business—and obviously you are if you run a personal training gym, a boot camp, or a personal training studio—then you could get a ton more leads, prospects, and clients through SEO and blogging.

Check this out. There’s one secret to optimizing your blogs and videos for maximum exposure. Wanna know what it is?

Use Keywords and Key Phrases

What do I mean by keywords and key phrases?

Well, Google owns YouTube, and Google is the number one search engine that the whole world goes to when they’re searching for things online. Your job is to write blog posts that are somewhere between, let’s say, 200 and 500 words, that have keywords peppered in.

Now you’re probably wondering, “How do I know what keywords to use?” Well, it’s actually simpler than you think…

Let’s say you live in Los Angeles, California. If you type in “Los Angeles, California personal trainer,” you’re going to see a whole bunch of listings come up. Every now and again, you might see a video thumbnail come up, which is pretty cool.

Now what you don’t realize is that Google actually has a keyword tool where you can just take “Los Angeles personal trainer” or “[YOUR CITY] personal trainer,” and put it in the keyword tool. It’ll say, “Well, anybody searching for ‘Los Angeles personal trainer’ is also searching for these different keywords and phrases.”

If you’re wondering, “How do I find that keyword tool?” it’s really easy. Just go to Google.com, scroll down to the bottom, and click on AdWords, just like if you were going to run an ad campaign. Create an account, but you don’t have to put a budget. You don’t even have to run an ad campaign. Just create an ad account, because when you do, Google is going to let you use its keyword search tool.

Write Amazing Blogs…

All you have to do is take one of your best keywords, like “Los Angeles personal trainer,” “personal trainer Los Angeles,” or “fitness boot camp Los Angeles,” and when you put it in there, Google says, “Hey look, all these different keywords and phrases that people are searching are very similar to that.”

Find the top 5, 10, 15, 20 keywords and start writing blog posts based around those keywords. If one of them is, “Los Angeles personal trainer,” you might have that keyword or key phrase peppered throughout your blog post several times. It should also be in the actual headline, the title of your blog post, and of course, in the tags of your blog post.

By doing that, you optimize that particular page for that particular keyword, which means that your page shows up when someone does a local search for a personal trainer in Los Angeles.

…and Post Amazing Videos

Believe it or not, it works the same way on YouTube. The best thing you can do is create a video based on those keywords…and it just might start off like, “Hey, what’s up? My name is Bedros Keuilian and I’m a personal trainer here at Chino Hills Fit Body Boot Camp. Today I’m going to show you the top three exercises to flatten your stomach and, of course, get leaner.” A lot of people go to YouTube to learn how to do things, or to search things out, so your video will resonate with some of them.

We want to use the words that they use, right? No one is searching for “flat abs.” Everyone wants a “flat stomach” or a “flat tummy,” right? That’s just how our prospects think.

Once you’ve made your video, upload it to YouTube. Again, make sure that that title has that specific keyword or phrase, number one. Number two, in the description box, make sure you include that keyword or phrase. Finally, at the very bottom, make sure that you enter that keyword or phrase in the tag section as well.

Over time, those blog posts and YouTube videos begin to rank higher and higher and higher when someone in your town searches for a local personal trainer, fitness center, boot camp, or gym.

Before you know it, they’re going to click on your blog and your YouTube videos, which should lead them to your website or your social media platform. That’s where they’re going to reach out to you, contact you, and of course become a lead prospect and, ultimately, a paying client.

Committed to your success,
